The wait is over and Season 4 is finally upon us.  After 4 months of patiently waiting and trying to make it through the summer without our weekly fill of JAM, the time has finally arrived.

Here is a recap of where we left off at the end of Season 3.

Jim, Karen, and Michael head off to New York City to apply for a management job in corporate.  Through a series of twists and turns we find out that Michael withdrew from the pool because it turns out that they are planning to let Jan go.  In an effort to be a “good boyfriend” Michael simply cannot take a job that used to belong to his ousted girlfriend.  Jim and Karen proceed to the interview.  Karen seems to do well but Jim gets distracted during the interview when he pulls out his sales reports and finds a cute little message from Pam. His mind quickly goes astray to past memories of him with Pam. When asked what he loves about working in Scranton he replies “the friendships.” Of course he is referring to Pam.  When asked where he sees himself over the long haul his mind goes back to Pam.  The scene ends showing him leaving corporate and driving  back to Scranton alone (without Karen which is a significant detail because they drove to NY together).   He gets back to Scranton and walks in on Pam’s talking head that explains how she and Jim will always be friends. It is there that he asks Pam if she is free for dinner.  She says yes.  He says “great..it’s a date” and you see Pam’s eyes tear up from happiness.

Then we are taken back to Michael and Jan and their ever turbulent relationship.  Jan comes back to Scranton to ask Michael for one more chance. He starts to say no but then as he is saying no, Jan removes her coat to expose a brand new boob job.  Michael, being the mature office manager that he is, can’t stop viewing the new girls and quickly takes Jan back.  She then losses her job and thrusts herself on Michael and his condo.

Back at the office, Dwight thinks that Michael is going to get the job so he quickly takes over as regional manager and paints the office black to intimidate his subordinates.  He then receives disappointing news when Michael comes back and says he is not leaving the office.

In the end we are led to believe that Ryan gets the job in corporate which is an interesting spin because we were never informed that he was an applicant.

Hopefully some things will be explained a bit tonight such as:

1.  Pam and Jim’s date

2.  What happens with Karen now that Jim and Pam went out to dinner.

3. What will happen with Jan and Michael and will she find a job or be a house-girlfriend.

4.  What will happen to Kelly and Ryan now that Ryan seemingly is moving to corporate.

5.  Dwight and Angela - what is going on with their relationship.

I can’t wait till tonight. I have two TiVos going in my house so I can catch it in any room I walk into.  Stay tuned tonight as I blog the recap at 10 pm.

Negotiations are all about controlling things; about being in the driver’s seat. And, you make one tiny mistake and you’re dead. I made one tiny mistake, I wore woman’s clothes.- Michael Scott
