The Deposition - Recap

I was very sad to see this episode come to an end because there will be no more new episodes until the writer’s strike is over.

Still, there was a lot of excellent comedy in this episode that I am not sure where to start.  Michael was yet again center stage where just about anything can happen where he is scheduled to be deposed in the lawsuit of Jan Levinson vs Dunder Mifflin.  It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy who is loyal to both the company that he works for and his current lover. Through a series of comedic twists and turns which highly emphasize “that’s what she said” and brings back the emailed photo of Jan topless we find that Michael has a special loyalty to Dunder Mifflin.  In a stunning revelation, Michael finds out that he was not in the top 5 of considerations for the corporate job which was David Wallace’s testimony.  This somewhat stuns Michael but he deals with it like a champ and remains loyal to Dunder Mifflin. But what will happen to he and Jan now that it appears that her lawsuit is over without the estimated 4 million dollars?  Only the striking writers know!

In a secondary sub-plot of The Deposition, we find Jim in a heated war with Darryl at the ping pong table where Jim shows his severe lack of skills.  This kind of surprised me because Jim was so good at basketball in season 1 yet that coordination does not carry over to the ping pong table.  Even though the men were enjoying a little friendly competition, not so for the women as Kelly took every opportunity to “talk smack” NOT “trash talk” (because there are two distinct differences between the two) to Pam.  Pam didn’t appreciate this and decided to challenge Kelly to a match of ping pong. Needless to say, neither of them could get the little ball over the net and that was the end of the story.

Overall I give this episode a B+ with a lot of tears because we are now heading into reruns.

I’ve got three cases of imported beer, a karaoke machine and I didn’t invite Michael. So three ingredients for a great party…Jim Halpert

The Deposition segment was hilarious, especially when they read back the part about Micheal using the excuse to go to the bathroom to try and get out of questions, I will miss the new ones too, but damn, the reruns are not too bad…
