So you’ve come to the master for guidance? Is this what you’re saying grasshopper? – Michael to Jim

Episode 2 – Dunder Mifflin Infinity

THERE’S A NEW BOSS IN TOWN…Much to the dismay of Michael and many of the employees, Ryan returns to the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin to bring the company into the digital age. Angela is still upset about her cat.

This should be a really funny and exciting episode mainly because we are going to get to see how Ryan interacts with the group after being promoted to corporate. Remember that for the past few seasons Ryan has been the office intern and Michael has been treating him as his do-boy.  Ryan also has really never made a sales deal (which makes me wonder how he is qualified to be in corporate) but I am hoping that gets explained later on in the season.  Will Michael ask Ryan to get him his coffee or yams when he returns?

On another note, how is Kelly going to interact with Ryan now that they are over?  Their relationship was not mentioned in the premiere which leads me to believe that they will probably mention something when he returns on Thursday.

In another subplot, it looks like Angela is going to need therapy for her grief after her cat, Sprinkles, died.  But more importantly is the question of whether the cat died on her own or was killed by Dwight.  From the looks of the premiere Angela is not buying the cat dying on her own theory rather she believes that Dwight killed her which may cause some rocky bumps in their relationship.

This week I could use a few sprinklings of JAM but won’t be disappointed if I don’t get it because last week gave me enough for awhile.

This week’s episode is another hour long episode which means potential deleted scenes made the final cut.  Catch the blog Thursday for released spoilers from youtube.

The most sacred thing I do is care… Today I am in charge of picking a great new healthcare plan. Right? That’s what this is all about. Does that make me their doctor? Um, yes. Like a specialist.Michael Scott

Office Premiere – Fun Run Recap

Well, the premiere is over and it was really awesome.  It was filled with hilarious lines and endless comedy.  The episode started out with Michael hitting Meredith with his car causing her to have a cracked pelvis.  The Office employees decided to visit her in the hospital where Michael makes a series of blunders.  Everyone comes back to the office where it seems that Angela’s cat has died according to Dwight but she believes that Dwight actually killed the cat which will probably cause many problems in their relationship.

In the midst of all this happening, Pam and Jim explain that they went on a couple of dates but that they are still single and looking for love.  However we later see that this is only a facade and that they are actually dating regularly.  We witness them give each other a kiss in the car and then later holding hands.

Michael then tries to organize a 5K Fun Run in the hopes to raise money for rabies.  The Office staff are their usual selves by catching taxi cabs half way through the race and other various obnoxious behaviors.  Michael quit in the middle of the race because of his carb overload on fettuccine alfredo but then Jim and Pam managed to talk him to the end of the race.  Andy’s nipples were bleeding because of race chaffing.  Everyone finished the race and the episode ended with Michael being in the hospital due to dehydration near Meredith’s room and they end up being friends.

However, the best part was the union of Pam and Jim that we have waited for over 3 years to happen.  The writers of this show are so incredible because they aren’t overloading us with JAM. They are giving it to us in very small increments and that is to avoid some serious shark jumping.  I don’t really care because I absolutely am in love with the Jim and Pam relationship and I could watch them together forever.

I rate the premiere an A+

Must See TV Thursday -The Office Premiere

The wait is over and Season 4 is finally upon us.  After 4 months of patiently waiting and trying to make it through the summer without our weekly fill of JAM, the time has finally arrived.

Here is a recap of where we left off at the end of Season 3.

Jim, Karen, and Michael head off to New York City to apply for a management job in corporate.  Through a series of twists and turns we find out that Michael withdrew from the pool because it turns out that they are planning to let Jan go.  In an effort to be a “good boyfriend” Michael simply cannot take a job that used to belong to his ousted girlfriend.  Jim and Karen proceed to the interview.  Karen seems to do well but Jim gets distracted during the interview when he pulls out his sales reports and finds a cute little message from Pam. His mind quickly goes astray to past memories of him with Pam. When asked what he loves about working in Scranton he replies “the friendships.” Of course he is referring to Pam.  When asked where he sees himself over the long haul his mind goes back to Pam.  The scene ends showing him leaving corporate and driving  back to Scranton alone (without Karen which is a significant detail because they drove to NY together).   He gets back to Scranton and walks in on Pam’s talking head that explains how she and Jim will always be friends. It is there that he asks Pam if she is free for dinner.  She says yes.  He says “great..it’s a date” and you see Pam’s eyes tear up from happiness.

Then we are taken back to Michael and Jan and their ever turbulent relationship.  Jan comes back to Scranton to ask Michael for one more chance. He starts to say no but then as he is saying no, Jan removes her coat to expose a brand new boob job.  Michael, being the mature office manager that he is, can’t stop viewing the new girls and quickly takes Jan back.  She then losses her job and thrusts herself on Michael and his condo.

Back at the office, Dwight thinks that Michael is going to get the job so he quickly takes over as regional manager and paints the office black to intimidate his subordinates.  He then receives disappointing news when Michael comes back and says he is not leaving the office.

In the end we are led to believe that Ryan gets the job in corporate which is an interesting spin because we were never informed that he was an applicant.

Hopefully some things will be explained a bit tonight such as:

1.  Pam and Jim’s date

2.  What happens with Karen now that Jim and Pam went out to dinner.

3. What will happen with Jan and Michael and will she find a job or be a house-girlfriend.

4.  What will happen to Kelly and Ryan now that Ryan seemingly is moving to corporate.

5.  Dwight and Angela – what is going on with their relationship.

I can’t wait till tonight. I have two TiVos going in my house so I can catch it in any room I walk into.  Stay tuned tonight as I blog the recap at 10 pm.

1 Day Left – Office Gossip

I found some stuff on E!Online with Kristin regarding future Office Gossip. Here is some of the dialogue between Kristin and guest emails.

Brooke in Los Angeles: Anything on The Office?
I talked to B.J. Novak himself on the Emmys red carpet about his burgeoning beard, and he spilled lots about Ryan’s future, saying, “[The beard] is a sign of Ryan’s wannabe maturity, his would-be transformation. Ryan sees himself as completely changed, and he wants to send a message. His clothes are completely different, and his facial hair is different. I narrowly avoided a pencil-thin goatee. At the last minute the other writers decided I could just grow scruff and call it a day. I wrote into my episode that [writer-actor] Mike Schur, who plays Mose, had to wear a horrible neck beard, which he grew for three months. And then he wrote into his episode that I had this awful goatee. And we experimented with a fake beard, actually, but I avoided that fate …”

Denise in Chicago: Greg Daniels said that Michael Scott’s hard to manage and that’ll be one of Ryan’s big struggles this year. What’s the deal with that? Will Michael be cleaning out the back of Ryan’s car?
I asked B.J. just that! He told me, “I do ask him to get me a cold water, in the first couple of episodes.” And how does he take that? Well, according to B.J., “Michael has incredible powers of self-delusion and incredible powers of idealization, so he takes that as a sign that Ryan is his friend who wants to treat him like a host. I mean, it’s a comedy show, and that relationship is very complicated. Michael still thinks Ryan is his best friend and his protg — his partner in crime.”

Elijah in Philadelphia: The Office!
On the red carpet, I asked Phyllis Smith how Phyllis Vance was going to keep in touch with BFF Karen if she was gone from Scranton, and she said, “I guess we’ll have to blog on the computer with her … Next time I need to go to the beauty parlor, I’m certainly going to call her, because we made a fabulous pair together.” I also asked Phyllis how she does in the already infamous Fun Run, and she said, “I’m a pretty good contender. I have to let you know that.”

There’s no toliet paper here. Could Ryan…Tell Ryan to bring toliet paper! Could you tell him that? – Michael to Pam

The countdown continues – 2 days left

2 days until Season Premiere.  I figured I would include a short JAM video to help you get in the mood.

Stapler in Jello

  1. Make Jell-O but only fill half the bowl.
  2. Then put it in the fridge and wait for it to set.
  3. When it has set take it out of the fridge.
  4. Put the object on top of the set Jell-O.
  5. Make more Jell-O and put it on top so it covers the object.
  6. Put it in the fridge to set.
  7. When it has set you should have an object in Jell-O.

Tips

  • If you want to have the Jell-o “sitting” by itself, outside of the bowl, use the “jiggler” recipe on the box. When the Jell-o has set, place the bowl in a pan of warm water, then just jiggle the mold out of the bowl, and the object will be suspended inside the Jell-o.
  • Make sure that the Jello is only ‘mostly set’ or is slightly sticky on top. If you wait until it is fully set, it will separate into 2 sections and people will know how you did it.
  • If your object will float in water then use slightly thickened Jello for the top layer.
  • Make sure the item sitting in the Jell-o is food grade (not poisonous) and that the object is waterproof.

Warnings

  • Make both Jell-O’s the same color or it will look odd and people will know how you did it.

Things You’ll Need

  • A big bowl to put it in. (Clear plastic or glass recommended so you can see the object inside)
  • Jell-O (2 of same color)
  • Fridge
  • Object

On another note there is an awesome site for all of you Office fans.  It’s called Dunder Mifflin Infinity.  Join the site (free) and become an employee of the Dunder Mifflin team.

In the spirit of premiere week I will be posting a recipe tomorrow to make Stapler in Jello.  It should be pretty good.

[to Jim] Sidenote, I’d just like to say I’m thrilled to be working directly beneath you. I feel I have a lot to learn from you even though you are younger and have less experience. So here’s to the future. Andy and the Tuna. – Andy
